Am here after watching a failed cast iron repair on cutting edge engineering (he attempted a flame spraying powder iron repair). This method definitely looks like it could have saved that part!
That's awesome thank you
Thank you for watching and commenting!
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen. Been a welder and mechanic for 30 years and I've never seen lock n stitch. I will definitely be using this in the future

Impressive. I need to be able to do this to my Cleveland block. Small 3/4 crack which only shows up with magna fluxing. I’ve got to search for the material used and tools to do the repair. Just worried that it’s more than the cost of a second block. Which would cost me $300 to buy. Then $700 to clean, zero deck, square and bore. I will watch this a few times to better my understanding of how it’s done. Thank you!!!
Just sent a message to your other response - but we are always here to help you every step of the way. The team can let you know how much the product will cost for the repair, we will get you all the training material needed and can provide the technical support too. Reach out to us when you are ready to talk - info@locknstitch.com or 209/632-2345 Thanks for reaching out!
Fascinating repair method, I didn't know this was done. Thanks!
The previous video cut off short; after installing the second set of pins do you then make a third pass, filling in the spaces between the first pins not filled by the second set? I have an old Toyota that froze recently, causing a minor crack in the side of the block. I recalled seeing these videos since years ago and I've fallen back down the rabbit hole looking into repair methods.
Hi Jeff - thanks for reaching out with your question. We only posted a portion of the video here, you are correct. Our customer service team would be more than happy to help you, walk you through the process, answer all your questions. Hi my name is Rashidhajeloo I'm from Iran I like your work ,I have question about your work. I hope answer me question. What is the difference between L and C pins, what kind of alloy are the pins made of ,are the pins made according to MM or INCH standards. What is the name of the tool that you do create a seat with after drilling the first hole, the same tool that has a guide rod at the beginning
This is great to watch. Oddly satisfying. When I struggle to get my crap drill to go through a bit of aluminium seeing your kit just eat away at the metal like a knife through butter was so good to see. Great work. Thanks guys.

What an amazing product. Used it several times with zero comebacks. I now am a Professor at my local university teaching Diesel Mechanics Technology. We have a two year program that graduates our students with an A.A.S in DMT. We have a dedicated pre-req class for all incoming students called Basic Shop skills. We teach things such as: drilling/tapping, metal work/fab layout, sharpening drill bits, basic and then precision measurement with calipers dial bore gauges, micrometers, and the list goes on. I would LOVE to add a section on using your system to demonstrate its abilities and how to properly use it. The trick is getting the department chairs to agree to the cost so we usually have to demo things and then create a write up/pitch. If you’d ever be willing to work with me, maybe donate a demo kit I can use to show why we should routinely purchase more for incoming students to use LET ME KNOW. I think this would be a great section to add to my basic shop skills class. Just a thought…..either way, great product and God bless!
P.S. I stumbled on this video and it reminded me of your product and how it would be good to teach. Normally, I’d reach out in person, by phone, or email but this was unique. I don’t normally leave too many serious comments but I wanted to try while it was front and center. Thanks and take care.
Hello TJ - thank you for the incredible feedback. Please reach out to our team at info@locknstitch.com and we will be in touch.
Very cool process and video, If i sent a picture of the repair im trying to do to a block, could you tell me if it would work? The issue i have, is the crack is more like a small oblong shaped hole about the size of a fingernail clipping. its not a hairline fracture like this but i think if i used some oversized pins it could work.

Can't drill down like 3mm and then drill on a 60 degree angle through the crack into the other side, and alternate sides as you go. So it pulls it together?
Hi Darren - the technical team would be happy to talk to you more about the process. They can be reached at info@locknstitch.com Thanks for watching and posting your question
How meticulous
The Art of Metal Stitching!
It's the same as the metal lock method they used at Dresser rand back in the 70's
Glad you found us Speed Smash. LOCK-N-STITCH developed and patented a thread design to pull the surrounding material together rather than push it apart.
Nice to see people who know what there doing, needle gun was a nice touch on the non machined cast 👍
All the CNC phd material science master degree having experts really all came out at once in the comment section for this one
I saw something like that on an old engine. Myself I would weld it after grinding away completely the crack and rounded its ends. This method into the video can work when there are not important pressure inside who tend to "stretch" the structure. It's not a secret but it's something more refined: Grind, round the ends, heat it up and see if the crack continue, if not, heat it up again on a larger surface, start welding "dots". Use the electrode welder with an electrode for cast iron, not the MIG, it can work with MIG but it's more risky. Hammer a bit each dot, clean, repeat, it takes more than you imagine. Smooth it a bit if necessary (if not don't bother). Let it cool down very very slowly, refractory sand or bricks for that. The important is to hammer the welded dots while they are still orange/red and to cool down it all slowly.
Your system is just what I need!!! I just bought a milling machine that was broken almost in two. I think with your whole setup I can fix it. It has about a six inch crack on each side with a quarter twenty hole on each involved. I sure hope that you can help. Contact me please. Thanks a lot .

It appears you have not tested how long the crack is - so how do you know where to start? The end of a crack can be microscopic and invisible to the naked eye.
